Star trails near Monument Valley, desert

pinterest

This shot was taken using a 3-hour exposure, during which time the stars moved across the night sky. The north star is the bright star at the center of the star circles. Since it is almost due north, it barely moves during the night, while the other stars appear to rotate around it. Of course, it is really the Earth that is rotating.
