This immense sandstone bowl is located in a very remote part of Utah. The bottom is filled with red mud that was an area neary the size of a football field. The mud was deposited here when rain washed into the sandstone bowl and accumulated into pools of water. When the water evaporated, it left behind mud that it had carried with it into the bowl.
